different weather in our surroundings. Hot, cold, rainy, cloudy and windy are the words, that describe the different conditions of the atmosphere around us. this is called the weather of a place. “Thus the weather is the condition of the atmosphere around us”.
the season is a particular type of weather, which remains the same for a month or two. Depending upon the different weathers in our surroundings, there are different types of seasons. these are-
Summer is the hottest time of the year. It begins in April and ends in June. The days are long and the nights are short. The air is warm and dry. We sweat a lot. Sometimes hot wind called loo blow during the day. People like to stay indoors in the afternoon and use coolers, fans, and air conditioners. We wear light cotton clothes in this season. These keep our bodies cool.
People enjoy eating fruits like muskmelon, watermelon, and mangoes in summer, they also enjoy a drink like lemonade and raw mangoes in summer. Some of us go to hill stations which are cool even in summers. Shimla, Mussoorie, Manali and Ooty are some famous places in India.

Drink lots of water.
Don’t have cut fruits or juice from the roadside vendor. These can make you sick.
Take a bath twice daily.
It begins at the end of June and ends in September. The land becomes very hot in the summer season. Winds blow over the sea and pick up moisture. These rain-bearing winds are called the monsoons. Monsoon causes rainfall in most parts of India. We also hear thunder and see lightning in the sky. The sky was mostly covered with dark clouds. Sometimes rainbow is seen in the sky. The rainfall is necessary for crops. The water gets collected in rivers and lakes. It is used for irrigation.
People protect themselves from Rain by using an umbrella and raincoats. Peacocks dance in the rain to show their happiness. Children make paper boats and float them in the rainwater.

Sometimes this is also known as fall. During the month of October and November, the weather is neither hot nor cold (it is the season after rainy season and before the pre-winter season). The trees shed their leaves with amazing colours. The temperature grows colder and plants stop making food. This is called the autumn season.
Winter is the coldest time of the year. November December and January are the winter months. Days are short and nights are long. Places in the mountains have snowfall. The mountain peaks get covered with snow and look very beautiful.
WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IN WINTER SEASON. HOW?
We wear woolen clothes to protect ourselves from cold.
We enjoy drinking hot milk and tea.
We use a room heater to keep the room warm.
On sunny days we like to sit out or play in the sunshine.
Oranges, bananas, apples are winter fruits and cauliflower, cabbage and peas are winter vegetables. we should have these things in winters.
Spring comes after winter in the month of February and March. The weather remains very pleasant. It is neither hot nor cold. Plants get new leaves and flowers. Nature looks colourful. It is an ideal season for a picnic. we see different flowers in different seasons. We see beautiful sunflowers and jasmines during the summer season. Dahlias and Calendulas bloom during the winter season. We see tulips and carnations in the spring season.
The seasons affect us in many ways. Our lifestyle depends on the season. It affects the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the daily things we do.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE FACE TOO LESS AND TOO HEAVY RAINFALL?
Due to heavy rains, the river overflow, and the waters of these rivers enter the surrounding areas. This is called a flood. During floods, large areas get submerged in water. People face a lot of problems due to heavy rainfall.
Very less and no rain situation is called drought. it is a dry period caused due to very less or no rain for a long time in an area. It results in a severe water shortage. Ponds and lakes dry up. Huge cracks develop in the soil. People also face problems due to drought. Crops get damaged and people do not have food to eat and water to drink.
